Schwartzwald is a state park that threatens to consume the city from the East. Poachers have been a problem in the deeper parts of the park while the areas closer to the city contain more recreational facilities. The Gullet ( a gorge around the Disautel River) has been established as the informal border between the recreational part of the park and the forest proper. The deeper parts become ominously thick, leading to foresters allowing tightly managed logging in an effort to thin out the area. So far these efforts have proven unsuccessful.
